About Us

The Haven is a Local Ecumenical Partnership serving the Heatherton Estate, which began worshipping in 1993. It is a coming together of people from Baptist, Methodist, Church of England and United Reformed backgrounds and has since gathered others along the way!  We are accountable to our four parent 'streams', but over the years have developed our own identity and style.  The Haven is simply that - "The Haven".  The present church building was completed in December 1999.  For a more detailed history of the Haven, please follow the links to the 'History' page.

Our worship is contemporary and informal in style.  A number of different people lead worship on Sunday mornings and we welcome a variety of speakers in addition to our own Minister, Martin Knight.

We believe that God is relevant in today's society and invite the Holy Spirit to meet with us and change our lives as we worship God.

The Haven is child friendly, catering on Sunday mornings for babies, children and young people up to fourteen in age-related groups.  Please follow the links to the 'For Children and Young People' page for more details of these groups.  We encourage older young people to be involved and use their skills, whether musically, on the PA desk or in other ways within the life of the church.

The Haven is affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance, Derby Churches, Littleover and Blagreaves Churches Together and our four denominations.
